JOB SUMMARY:
A purchasing manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process of goods and services for a company, including researching suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the best quality products are obtained at the most competitive price, while aligning with company needs and budget constraints
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, research, and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, delivery time, and reliability.
- Negotiate purchase agreements with vendors to secure the best pricing and terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast future needs to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Stay updated on market trends and price fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Ensure purchased goods meet quality standards and specifications.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and address issues effectively.
- Establish and implement efficient purchasing procedures and policies.
- Manage the purchasing budget and track spending against allocated funds.
- Lead and supervise a team of purchasing agents or buyers.
- Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management.
- Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles.
- Experience managing supplier relationships.
- Strong negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
- Analytical skills: Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities and make informed decisions.
- Market knowledge: Understanding of industry trends and supplier landscape.
- Project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Communication skills: Effective communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Procurement software proficiency: Knowledge of purchasing and inventory management software – KOJO, Foundation and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
BENEFITS:
- Salary Range: $69,000 – $79,000
- Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, Voluntary Insurance, and 401K with 4% match
- Holiday Pay
